My husband and I decided it was time to buy our first home due to the favorable buyers market and the $8000.00 tax credit incentive. When we ran our credit reports in June '09, we didn't qualify.  We thought that if we disputed the derogatory reporting’s ourselves, we should be approved.  We submitted a few disputes to the three credit bureaus.  We had our credit run again two months later, only to find, the credit scores had not improved much.

On October 16th, our credit reports were run again.  I increased more than 30 points, and my husband improved an impressive 60+ points!  We were approved for our FHA loan and tonight, we're awaiting the signatures from a seller that we agreed to terms with.  We will close by Nov. 20, allowing us to buy our first home, and receive the $8,000.00 tax credit.
